Though iTunes is quite a useful program by means of which you can download and manage your music library, there can be situations requiring you to uninstall it. Go on reading if you want to learn how to properly carry out the uninstallation of iTunes and subsequently reinstall the program, if necessary.
Step by Step instruction to uninstall iTunes
We kindly ask you to carefully observe the following recommendations to delete iTunes from your computer.
For starters, click on the Windows icon at the left bottom of the screen.
Wait for “Start” to open and be ready to type in ‘start panel’ into the corresponding field to begin searching your PC for the applications you are interested in.
After that, click on “Control Panel” This option can be found at the top of the Start window.
After that, you will see the “Uninstall a program” option you should select. You will find it under the “Programs” option.
After that, you will be required to press the “Publisher” tab. Doing so will make the process of finding the necessary software easier and less time-consuming. The point is that the program automatically arranges all software alphabetically by their publishers, which means that you will see “Apple Inc” at the top of your Control Panel window. If it doesn’t appear in the appropriate place, try repeating the overall procedure again.
Once you have found the necessary publisher, go on to search for iTunes. This program should appear at the top of the provided list.
You should select it and then click the “Uninstall” button.
Shortly afterward, you will be presented with recommendations on how to perform the procedure for complete uninstallation of iTunes. Follow them to minimize the risk of encountering problems associated with improper uninstallation.
Please note that you will be prompted to uninstall the selected software twice. Click on “Yes” and wait for the uninstallation to finish.
You also may be asked to restart your PC after uninstalling iTunes. We recommend selecting the “Restart later” option.
Uninstalling iTunes alone is not enough to get our mission accomplished. The Apple services that were installed by default after you installed iTunes also should be removed. To successfully remove iTunes, you will need to uninstall several programs in the order specified below.
Disable Apple Software Update.
Remove Apple Mobile Device Support and uninstall Bonjour.
Apple Application Support (64-bit version) should be deleted next.
Same goes for Apple Application Support (this time, it’s 32-bit version).
You should keep in mind that uninstalling the programs in the order different to that specified above or failure to uninstall all the programs may entail undesired consequences such as partial uninstallation of iTunes. Therefore, make sure to stick to the initial instructions.
Then, you will be required to reboot your computer. To do that, open “Start,” then click on and select the “Restart” option. Shortly afterward, both iTunes and accompanying Apple programs should disappear from your PC.
If you do everything correctly, you should not experience any difficulties with downloading and installing iTunes in the future.
